Southern Analytical Laboratories, Inc., a NELAC accredited/state certified environmental laboratory specializing in water and soil analysis, is seeking highly motivated, career-minded individuals for expanding business.  Departments include Inorganics, Organics, Radiochemistry, and Microbiology.

 

Job Description

As an Analyst/Technician you would be preparing or analyzing drinking waters, wastewaters, environmental waters or soils for a wide variety of analytes using Standard Methods, EPA methods and laboratory SOP’s.

 

Routine laboratory duties may include:

Sample collection and pick up

Maintaining laboratory equipment

Preparing chemical solutions, calibration and QC standards

Prepare samples for analysis

Analyzing samples using instrumentation and chemistry techniques

Completing work within regulatory hold times and customer deadlines

Data interpretation, data entry, and maintenance of QA/QC data

 

This is an entry level, hourly, full time position.  May include overtime and/or weekend work.  Benefits available.  No relocation package available.

 

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related science.  They will have strong multi-tasking, organizational, and math skills. Good at problem solving and troubleshooting. They will be a team player and able to work well under pressure.

Title: Client Services Assistant

Description: The Client Services Assistant works closely with Senior Staff to meet client requirements and maintain accuracy with on-time delivery of results. Also serves as a liaison between field and laboratory staff to convey project requirements.  Performs duties associated with sampling kits, login, and subcontracting, to meet project requirements in a timely manner.  Flexible schedules available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, packages, and ships sample kits in accordance with appropriate project-specific sampling and analyses plans. 
  • Performs sample receiving to ensure proper receipt and login of samples.  Distributes samples to appropriate departments.
  • Verifies customer requirements vs. lab requirements during the login phase.
  • Packs in-house samples for shipment to other laboratories. 
  • Maintains project documentation and files for all customer programs.
  • Maintains organized supply/inventory for use in department.  Responsible for ordering materials as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in Chemistry or Science related field preferred.

Position:  Lab (Sample) Custodian

 

Description: 

Accepts, logs, and retrieves all samples in to and out of the laboratory.  Stores, organizes and disposes samples as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accepts new samples in accordance with sample acceptance criteria.
  • Enters sample information into laboratory database.
  • Coordinates with Client Service Associates on status of receipt of samples, sample acceptance, and any anomalies that may be present.
  • Retrieves samples according to sample request forms.
  • Disposes of samples in accordance with QA release forms and regulations.
  • Monitors freezer and cooler temperatures daily.
  • Cleans and organizes the department daily to promote a clean, safe work environment and smooth flow of daily operations.

 

 

Secondary Duties:

·         Assists in maintenance of coolers to facilitate locating samples.

·         Performs splits and composites as needed.

·         Removes samples from laboratory refrigerators to storage.

·         Disposes of expired samples.

·         Performs routine calibration duties of thermometers, pipettes, balances in coordination with Inorganics and Organics Managers.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:  High School diploma or equivalent
